Third Great Artists studied the Gilded Paintings of Gustave Klimt. They made observations about his use of organic shape and stylized, spiraling lines in one of his most famous works, The Tree of Life. They created Styrofoam printers blocks by cutting foam plates at the circular base then engraving their tree design on the surface using a pencil. Using gold printers ink, they applied the ink with a brayer to the block. Students transferred the design to black paper and labeled it Artists Proof-the first print in any print series. Students embellished their final prints and applied glitter glue to the organic shapes and spiraling tree limbs once the ink was completely dry.
